Summer Stage - MQ
Vienna, Austria, 2023

Collaboration with Openfields

The MQ Sommerbühne is a public-friendly and green stage nestled within the heart of Vienna's MQ. This addition to the Museumsquartier merges nature with the urban landscape while also acting as a vital step towards MQ’s climate-conscious future.

Until the end of September, locals and visitors alike are invited to unwind in the urban garden and lounge above the meadow of tall grass. As the sun sets, the stage comes alive, hosting an array of captivating events such as concerts, artist talks, performances, lectures and discussions.

Crafted as a temporary installation, this stage uses stainless-steel and is designed in parts which can be later individually relocated in the courtyard. Throughout the summer, resilient plants will gradually envelop the platform, transforming it into a lush oasis of greenery.

The MQ Summer Stage is a green, public-friendly stage nestled within the heart of Vienna's MQ. This addition to the Museumsquartier merges natural and urban landscapes while also acting as a vital step towards MQ’s climate-conscious future.

Throughout the summer months, locals and visitors alike are invited to unwind in the urban garden and lounge surrounded by tall grass. As the sun sets, the stage comes alive, hosting an array of events such as concerts, artist talks, performances, lectures and discussions.

Designed as a temporary installation, the stage consists of three components constructed from stainless-steel rods that can later be individually relocated within the courtyard. Throughout the summer, resilient plants will gradually envelop the platform, transforming it into a green, urban oasis.
