Lock, Drop, Bop!
London, United Kingdom, 2022 Competition for London Festival of Architecture

Collaboration with Katja Banović

“Lock, Drop, Bop!” is a pair of benches which aims to bring the vibrant community of the Royal Docks and Newham together through the notion of play. The activity of play can be expressed through different forms across all cultures and generations, which allows for a field of negotiation between two symbiotic playful elements. “Lock, Drop, Bop!” therefore aims to build on this negotiation by creating a multi-functional bench for a range of users- It can either be a simple bench to overlook the water or a seesaw for a child or an adventurous adult. This decision is left to the user who engages by stabilising one bench and disabling the other. The engagement triggers interactions between the users and affronts their own personal willingness to compromise in order for all users to have something in common.
